Easily make the 'Palm Sunday' Sunday school lesson into an interactive Sunday school game by adding a few simple concepts. The kids will love it and will want to 'do it again'.
You can either read through the Palm Sunday lesson or print one up on your own to make this a cute yet simple Sunday school game.
As you will see (if you haven't already), the story of Palm Sunday is quite simple and short which makes it easy to turn into a game. First, you'll need to pick out key words you'll want to use.
We used the following words: donkey, walk or walked, Hosanna, and Jesus
What you'll need to do:
Before telling the story, you'll need to tell the kids which words to listen for in the story. Again, we used the words above. For smaller kids, you might just want to use two words and for older kids, you could add more.
To play this game as it ties into the story, you'll need to come up with some motions for each word. We used:
Instead of sitting, tell the kids the story as you walk around the room or even outdoors. You could have a special place ready with coats lying on the floor, fake palm branches for the kids to pick up and wave, and turned over tables.
As you read the story, make your way to each of these places to make the story come alive!

- donkey - make donkey ears by placing each of your hands on either side of you head and waving them back and forth like donkey ears.
- walk or walked - pat your knees to make a soft walking sound
- Hosanna - put both hands in the air and gently wave them back and forth from side to side
- Jesus - put both hands over your heart as a sign of love
