The bible tells us in Judges 3:7 KJV,

An the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord,

and forgat the Lord their God,

 

 

Over and over again, the children of Israel turned to idols, then to God, then back to idols. We see in the next chapter of Judges 4:1 KJV,

 

 

And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord,

 

 

As long as the children of Israel had a judge, they turned to the Lord. When the judge died, they turned back to idols.
